Group Clinical Consultation

Group Consultation for Couples & Sex Therapy

We offer ongoing group consultation for therapists who work with couples and intimacy-related concerns and want to deepen their clinical thinking, precision, and effectiveness.

This group is grounded in the AACAST model, which emphasizes a structured, depth-oriented approach to couples and sex therapy. The focus is not on techniques alone, but on understanding the underlying dynamics that organize a couple’s relationship — and intervening in a way that leads to meaningful and lasting change.

What This Consultation Offers

This is a working group designed for licensed clinicians who want to engage seriously with their cases.

Together, we:

  • Clarify the relational dynamics driving conflict, distance, and sexual concerns
  • Identify the underlying protective strategies shaping each partner’s experience
  • Develop clear, actionable treatment directions rooted in a coherent model
  • Support you in making interventions that are both precise and attuned
  • Explore stuck points in your cases with depth and nuance

The aim is to help you move from feeling uncertain or reactive in your work to feeling grounded, intentional, and effective.

Our Approach

Our consultation style is collaborative, engaged, and direct.

We are actively involved in the process — asking questions, offering formulations, and helping you think through both moment-to-moment interventions and the broader arc of treatment.

The AACAST model integrates:

  • Depth-oriented and relational therapy grounded in Right-Brain Psychotherapy
  • Parts-based approaches (including IFS-informed thinking)
  • A clear framework for working with sexual dynamics in couples
  • Attention to pacing, structure, and clinical decision-making

This allows for work that is both emotionally attuned and clinically precise.

Who This Is For

This group is a good fit if you:

  • Work with couples and/or sex therapy cases
  • Have a foundational/intermediate level of clinical experience
  • Want more than peer support — you’re looking for direction, clarity, and skill development
  • Are open to thinking deeply about your cases and your role as a therapist

About the Facilitators

Patrick Jensen, MA, LMFT
My approach is grounded in the understanding that the patterns individuals and couples struggle with are organized, meaningful, and often protective. Because the AACAST model is so effective at addressing those patterns, I’m passionate about helping other clinicians move their clients beyond insight toward change that is deeper and more lasting.

Wendy Cherry, PsyD
Wendy Cherry, Psy.D, is a licensed psychotherapist, educator, and co-founder of AACAST, as well a long-standing member of Dr. Allan Schore’s Right Brain Psychotherapy Group. With many years of advanced training in couples therapy and expertise in interpersonal neurobiology, she specializes in couples and sex therapy in her Burbank-based private practice, integrating neuroscience and psychodynamic approaches to support individuals, couples, and families.

Together, we serve as clinical supervisors and co-directors of AACAST. We are actively involved in training therapists in this model, including couples and sex therapy to psychiatry residents at UCLA and USC.
