My fee for therapy ranges from $275 to $300 for a 50-minute session. Payment is due at the time of each session. I accept payment in the form of cash, check, Visa, and Mastercard.
Insurance & reimbursement
I serve as an out-of-network provider for insurance companies. Because I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in California, my services qualify for reimbursement under insurance plans that offer outpatient mental health benefits. This means that you may use your insurance benefits for your therapy sessions.
If you’re considering filing with your insurance company for reimbursement, I’ll provide you with the information they require in the form of a monthly superbill. This monthly statement will include the number of sessions attended and cost of each session, as well as a psychiatric diagnosis. What’s important to know is that you will pay me the full fee for each therapy session, then submit the superbill for insurance reimbursement.
What is an out-of-network provider?
An out-of-network provider is a provider who has not contracted with a specific plan or insurance company to provide services for that company. Like many therapists in the area, I am not an “in-network” provider because I prefer to make treatment recommendations and decisions independent of insurance plan’s rules and guidelines.
How does insurance work?
The vast majority of insurance plans include some mental health coverage. Most likely your insurance company will reimburse a percentage of the cost of your therapy sessions. They will do this according to your plan’s benefits package. The amount reimbursed is dependent upon factors including the amount of your annual deductible and the number of sessions covered per calendar year, among other things. Check with your plan to determine your specific benefits.
